The Company was incorporated in the State of West Bengal, India on 14th June 1977 as a public limited company under the provisions of the Companies Act 1956 (Act). Its main objects per Memorandum & Articles of Association are, amongst other things, to grow, cultivate, manufacture, treat, blend, process, buy, sell and deal in tea in various forms, to carry on the business as planters in all its branches, to manufacture, buy, sell and deal in machinery for processing tea and in connection therewith or acquire by amalgamation, purchase, take-over or otherwise the whole..

Our entire emphasis is towards the development of a world-wide group of businesses which by their very nature require their managements to take a long view. Many companies in the group are in excess of 100 years old. These enterprises have acquired particular skills, traditions and ethos, and we see ourselves more in the nature of custodians or trustees than as owners. That is we do not see these assets as objects or commodities...

The Company organized an Identification Cum Distribution of Appliances Camp for the disabled persons on 30^th May, 11 at our Group Hospital. The camp was held in collaboration with National Institute for Orthopaedically Handicapped (NIOH), Kolkata and DDRC, Jalpaiguri. The inaugural function was attended by Mr. Yaspal Levin, Mr. Rajeswar Singh and Mr. M.K.Ghale, Joint BDO, Matelli. The Managers and Medical officers of the Dooars gardens were also invited.

170 disabled persons from our Group gardens in Dooars attended the camp. Tri cycles, wheel chairs, Blind stick, Hearing aids and crutch was distributed free to the beneficiaries. Wide publicity was given by the print media (Uttarbanga Sambad, Janpath, Dainik Jagran, Himalaya Darpan) and Kolkata TV.

The Packet tea department of Goodricke Group Ltd bagged the prestigious order to supply packaged teas to the Rajasthan State food and civil supplies corporation for the three districts of Ajmer , Bhilwara and Nagore . Supply of teas to the masses through Fair Price ration shops is a new initiative started in the state which is being spearheaded by the Government in the state headed by CM. The name of the packet to be supplied has been aptly name as Raj and the company expects to supply around 1 million kgs under this project commencing September 2011 .

In another noteworthy news, the Packet tea department of Goodricke Group Ltd bagged the coveted order to supply its Goodricke Premium brand of CTC tea bags to the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams ( TTD ) which is the body that governs the Tirumala Venkateshwara Temple . Hitherto this supply to the shrine was being catered by HUL.

The Tirumala Venkateshwara temple is the richest pilgrimage centre of any faith after the Padmanabhaswamy temple of Kerela and is the most visited place of worship in the world and is estimated to be visited by around 50000 to 100000 people daily with the numbers reaching 500000 during festivals and 30 to 40 million people annually .

The supply to the temple commenced from August 2011 and we expect to supply over 40 lac tea bags .
